As a Visual Arts Educator it is in my hands to offer my students an open and comfortable place in which they can express themselves artistically. I want to encourage and support my students to broaden their already existing imaginations. People who have the experience of altering a material from one state to another gain a great sense of accomplishment. As they practice, their talent increases and so does their sense of self. A lot can be done to encourage creative imagination. I offer my students room to think for themselves. Providing open-ended lesson planning leaves more room for each individual to shine and explore themselves based in strong artistic technique and principles. In this way, we are honoring the students for who they are and not for how well they can follow our directions. Creativity enhances our lives. It nourishes our imaginations. Our imaginations, in turn, support us in all areas of their lives and the world around us. Imagine!
