Exploring the elements of clay is valuable and wonderful at any age. Hands are the most versatile means of creativity. Exploration and experimentation go hand in hand with further understanding of who we are and how we relate to our social and world environment. When done in a group, working with clay can help to relieve social insecurities and encourage positive social engagement. Working with clay encourages the mind to focus on creating rather than doubting. Working with clay is beneficial in creating multiple opportunities to problem solve. Emphasis is placed on exploring surface treatments using both texture and color and the unity of these elements. This is the perfect class to take your hand-building skills and ceramic experience to the next level!

Practice your brush skills-

Students will learn to gain skills bringing them closer to the ability to paint in a way that is satisfying and fun. Each student will gain insight into the art of painting with its abundant creative opportunities. Greater comfort with the media will be gained. Students will love the process of ceramics with its great array of creative avenues. Working with clay is a wonderful way to increase hand-eye coordination. Sculpting clay requires the simultaneous use of our hands and eyes, therefore developing one of our most powerful abilities. As we sculpt the information our eyes or minds perceive (visual spatial perception), our hands can be patiently guided to create with increased skill and control.
